It's 5 O'Clock Somewhere

Hey All….did you know that it’s 5 o’clock somewhere?
And it’s also time for a new challenge at Pattie’s Creations. And the image that I chose to play with for the new challenge is “Bear Floating With Lemonade”. So what made me think of this image and song you ask? Well the theme for the challenge this time is “Summertime Fun”. So what’s more fun than time spent relaxing in the pool or on the lake…just takin it easy? O.k…for me, being old, that’s fun lol.

And doesn’t she look like she’s having a great time just floating around? Anyways, this time the challenge is going to run for 3 weeks instead of 2 so you will have until Thursday July 11th to make up a project and join in the fun. Although you don’t have to use one of Pattie’s Images, we just love to see it when you do. And don’t forget, it is a rule at Pattie’s Creations that you must use digital or stamped image. For all the rules and what the prizes are, head on over to Pattie’s Creations, we can’t wait to see what you come up with.

For Dad

It’s time for the half way challenge reminder at Digistamps4Joy and this time the challenge is For the Men in Our Lives. We’d like you to make a project for the man in your life, be it your father, husband, son or any male friend. You pick the occasion and we’d love to see what you come up with for it.

Seeing as how it was Father’s Day just recently, I decided to make a Father’s Day card for my hubby from my daughter (o.k…she decided for me lol) I used the image called Kudu Bull. Kudu’s are found in Eastern and Southern Africa. This image was drawn by our own Margy, owner of Digistamps4Joy and I have been waiting for the perfect occasion to use it.
The fold is called an Upright Z Fold card and you can find the tutorial for it here. I always like my cards to have a opening big enough to put a good sized sentiment in, so I attached a 5.5 inch card to the back. I coloured it using my Crayola pencil crayons and oms. The distressing around the image and sentiment on the front was done with Close to Chocolate by SU. The image and inside sentiment were cut out using my Scalloped Oval Nestibilities.  I made the “flower” by following a tutorial that I found on my teammate Desire’s blog, Doing Life (thanks Desire)…you might want to head over there as she has a lot of wonderful tutorials to try.

The sentiment on the inside is one that I got off of Splitcoast Stampers.

Now it’s your turn to show us what you can do. Head on over to Digistamps4Joy Challenge Blog and check out what the rest of my teammates on have made to inspire you. The challenge is until June 25th, and while you don’t have to use a Digistamps4Joy image, if you do you have a chance at winning the DT’s Choice prize which is a $10 gift voucher to spend in the store! While you’re there check out the rest of the rules and prizes to be won.

 Thanks for looking ~ Charlene

Beach Time Friends

A few years back my sisters, sister-in-law and I, along with my mom and aunt, would go every year to the ocean for a girls weekend away. Along with days spent lazing on the patio with cocktails and lots of chatting going on, were many hours spent walking along the beach. My second oldest sister always seemed to be the one who would discover any star fish in the area first. So it just seemed to be "fate" when I saw one of the newer images in Shelly's Images shop was of a young girl and a star fish just before my sister's birthday.  And how wonderful that the theme for Shelly's TTT Challenge right now is Beach Theme (summer) so that I can show off the card that I made. The ladies of the DT have used Shelly's Image "Beach Sign" for their creations and so have I. I paired the Beach Sign with Shelly's Image "Wish Upon a Star" to make a shaker card for my sister for her birthday.
Now usually Shelly's Beach Sign has a full scene around it, but I talked to Shelly and she was o.k. with me fussy cutting the scene part out so that I had just the sign as I wanted to pair it with her other image. I made a center step card and added some Sand Flower Soft to have sand that will actually shake in the card. I coloured the images with my Crayola pencil crayons and oms and attached the sign with pop dots. The seashells and butterfly's were stickers that I had in my stash and the sentiment is a freebie from Scribbles by Sandy and the dp is by Creative Creations.
I found the sentiment inside on Splitcoast Stampers.

Thanks for coming and looking ~

So now that I have the information part done it’s time to show you the image.
The fold is called an Upright Diamond Fold card and you can find the tutorial hereThe cs is from SU and the dp is by S.E.I. I used my Nestibilities Decorative Labels One for framing the image and my Standard Circles Small for the image. I coloured it with my Crayola pencil crayons and oms. On the inside I used my Nestibilities Beaded Oval for the sentiment and decorated the corner with my Madera Corner by Memory Box and some small jewel flowers I had in my stash. I used my SU Pastels to distress around the image with green and the sentiment inside with pink. The sentiment inside was a freebie that I found on Splitcoast Stampers.

Happy Father's Day

It’s time for another challenge at Pattie’s Creations and as you can probably tell by the song I posted, our challenge is all about dad’s. Yup, it’s that time of year again, the time to let our dad’s know just how much they mean to us. I had a really hard time deciding who was going to get this card, my dad or my father in law…I’ll let you know after Father’s Day lol.

So the image that I used for my card this time is called Carmine the Camel. The first time I saw him I knew that I just had to have him…he’s just one of those images that you look at and go…”Oh Man, I have just got to have him!”
I decided to print Carmine out 3 times, 2 smaller images and 1 larger one to depict a father and his kids, and put it on a side step card. The background papers I found online as freebies. You can find the one of the sand and trees here, but unfortunately I can’t find where I put the link for the pyramid one. I printed a freebie  sentiment from A Piece of Heart on the pyramids and then another freebie sentiment from Quilling, Art and Expression.

Now it’s your turn to show us what you can do. Just head on over to Pattie’sCreations Challenge Blog and enter your project in with Mr. Linky. It is a rule with Pattie’s Creations that you must use a digital stamp or a stamped image on your project. And while you are not required to use a Pattie’s Creations Image, we get really excited when you do. To check out the fabulous creations that my teammates have made and for all of the rules and prizes, just head on over to Pattie’s Creations Challenge Blog…we can’t wait to see what you come up with.

Thanks for visiting ~ Charlene

Oh To Be Young Again

Hi all, it's time for another mid challenge reminder for the current challenge at Digistamp4Joy. And as usual it's the B Team's chance to wow you. South Africa is celebrating Youth Day in June and so we are challenging you to make a card or creation that shows what it means to be a teenager or young adult. Or make a card or creation for someone 12-20.

I decided to make mine for my daughter for her upcoming birthday. I used the image Misteri Caller. Now I have to admit, when I first looked at this image I was a little daunted at colouring it...I mean look at all that hair lol! But wow, was it ever a wonderful image to colour. I think that her and some of the other Misteri series are going to become some of my new favorite images. Anyway, enough talk...time to show my card.
Now I wish I could give you a whole great big list as to what I used to make this card, but unfortunately (for you...for me it was great) most of the stuff that I picked up at Garage sales or had as left overs. The only thing that I can tell you for sure is the cs is by Recollections and the ticket punch is from SU. The red flower I know that I bought a set of 2 from WalMart but I don't have the little tag telling me the maker anymore. The green rhinestones are from a dollar store by my parents in Kelowna and the blue roses were a gift from a friend. I coloured her with my Crayola crayons and oms.

Now it's your turn to join in the fun. Just head on over to Digistamps4Joy Challenge Blog and check out the fab creations that the rest of the B Team has done up for your viewing pleasure. You'll also find all the rules and prizes to be won there too. Don't forget, while you don't have to use a Digistamps4Joy image, if you do you will be entered in to win $10 worth of Digistamps4Joy images!
